Study Abroad Tour
September 2024
TOUR OVERVIEW
The inaugural Marcy Lab School study abroad tour comprised of seven fellows, a chaperone and a videographer. The tour activities comprised of the AfriHack Connect hackathon, where seven companies were in participation, visits to historical sites, volunteering at a local community garden in the oldest township in South Africa, and social, tourist, and cultural experiences in Cape Town and Johannesburg. The objectives of the tour were to connect the fellows with African tech companies that are civic-minded and aim to give back to the community, learn about the history of South Africa, volunteer within a local community, and to engage and collaborate with peers pursuing a similar career.
